MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — A Moorhead man who trigged a lockdown on Friday in a part of the city makes his first court appearance.

28-year-old Malachi Shabaiash is charged with the attempted murder of his roommate.

Court documents reveal the victim claimed Shabaiash was intoxicated when he got out of their vehicle and went inside and grabbed a gun and began shooting at the vehicle in the 1100 block of 3rd Street South.

The victim wasn’t hit and took off for his parents place but soon returned and called police.

Police say Shabaiash fled the house carrying a rifle and began running through yards.

He was eventually arrested in the back yard of a house on 4th Street and arrested.

Police found four bullet holes in the vehicle and four shell casings.

In the home they found a semi-automatic rifle, a pistol and other weapons.

Bail with conditions is set at $500,000.

His next court hearing is set for May 14.
