Phone mistaken for gun leads to lockdown at Moorhead Career Academy, one arrested

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Moorhead High School’s Career Academy was placed on lockdown Thursday for approximately 40 minutes following a report of a possible weapon.
Police determined there was no weapon on campus and no threat to student safety.
School officials say the report originated from a misunderstanding involving a student using a mobile phone in a manner that was mistaken for a firearm.
One juvenile has been arrested and taken into custody for Criminal Misconduct. Additional charges are pending.
A statement released by Moorhead Public Schools says “The safety of our school community remains our primary focus. All students and staff are safe. No injuries occurred. Law enforcement has cleared the scene and confirmed the report was non-viable.”
