Moorhead Man Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder

The Moorhead Police Department says 40-year-old Roel Rivera purposefully struck a man with his car, leaving that man in critical condition.

MOORHEAD, MN – A suspect is in custody following a late-night person versus vehicle collision that resulted in critical injuries for the victim.

The Moorhead Police Department says the incident occurred just before midnight on April 24. Officers responded to a call of a person being struck by a vehicle. The department says that while investigating, they learned that the caller, driver, and victim were known to each other, and that this was not a random incident.

The person struck by the car was taken to a hospital by emergency personnel. They are said to be in critical condition.

Officers later located their suspect, 40-year-old Roel Rivera, and arrested him without incident. Rivera is currently being held at the Clay County Jail. He faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and felony first- and second-degree assault.
