North Dakota State Superintendent of Public Instruction optimistic about the future for education

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The Department of Education is still standing, but North Dakota’s State Superintendent believes the future may not be so dire.
Levi Bachmeier says he believes the department will not be dismantled, as he believes the government will not allow it to happen.
On Tuesday, U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon was questioned about her department’s decision on cutting down programs and push them onto other departments.
The education budget for 2027 was released on Friday, cutting down funding by $2.3 billion.
“I think that is just absolutely the right way to go. I don’t want lobbyists from California trying to influence the education that our students receive in North Dakota. And so I think this move to empower states to give control back to states is absolutely the right move,” said Bachmeier.
The budget proposal is a recommendation and Congress will determine the final funding levels.
