“Operation Dry Water” Begins This Weekend

Patrols Will Be Hitting Minnesota Lakes

Boaters will want to mind the laws of the water this weekend.

The Minnesota DNR and other public safety agencies statewide will step up patrols for intoxicated boaters as part of Operation Dry Water.

It’s a national campaign aimed at deterring drinking and boating.

A DNR spokesman says there’s usually a spike in alcohol-related accidents over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Last year, alcohol was a factor in six out of 14 boating fatalities in Minnesota.
