A family friendly event brings hundreds to the Moorhead Center Mall.
The 2nd Annual Kids Fest featured games, food, and activities, to try to promote healthy lifestyles for families.
A sea of kids came out to the Moorhead Center Mall for some family fun.
They explored many activities throughout the mall promoting healthy lifestyles.
Natasha Baker came with her three kids; Brynlee, Anton and KayLea.
It’s a way for the family to do something different.
“I’m a single mom to three so it was a nice way to get out of the house kind of see other kids and let them kind of expand and play with other kids and have fun,” said Baker.
There were many activities including hockey, painting, and therapy dogs.
A furry hawk also came to say hi.
“Children’s health is supported by families doing things together, moving together. There’s lots of movement activities here, some nutrition activities,” said Kids Fest Committee Member Kay Heidrich.
Kids Fest kicks off national Week of the Young Child which starts Sunday.
Ed Micka came all the way from Grand Forks to take his granddaughter.
“She likes to get out and run. She’s a bundle of joy that one,” said Micka.
It’s their second year at Kids Fest.
“It’s a really nice atmosphere for the kids and they have a lot of things to do,” said Micka.
Dogs like Opie here helped make this year’s kid fest the most successful so far.
Around 40 vendors and more than 300 people came to this year’s event.
“So nice, I mean with our community to be able to get out and do stuff, it’s wonderful said Baker.
It’s a chance for families to get out and get active.
Organizers made this year’s event longer and they expect it to return next year.
