Cass County Investigators Question United Airlines About Altercation with Commissoner Berndt

A United Airlines flight attendant tells Cass County Sheriff’s officials about kicking the county administrator off of a flight for being drunk.

Deputy: Could you tell that he was intoxicated? Could you tell that?
Keith Lane:  Yes, yes, yeah, yeah.
Deputy: So he yelled (expletive). Did he use any other derogatory comments Keith?
Keith Lane:  I was telling him basically you’re not going to sit up here and disrespect me in front of my passengers.

KFGO obtained that interview of Keith Lane by a Cass County Sheriff’s deputy.

Lane said Keith Berndt was disruptive and swore at him before Berndt was ordered off of the Chicago to Fargo bound plane in August.

The county commission has begun the process of firing Berndt, but he’s now asked for a public hearing.

In 2011, Berndt pleaded guilty to DWI in Otter Tail County.

KFGO contributed to this report.
