WASHINGTON, D.C. (KVRR) — A delegation of Fargo leaders heads to Washington, D.C. to advance the expansion project at Hector International Airport.

The delegation included Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney, Airport Executive Director Shawn Dobberstein and FAA officials.

The meeting was arranged and held by Sen. John Hoeven and included representatives from the offices of Sen. Kevin Cramer and Congressman Kelly Armstrong.

The project includes expanding the current terminal building to nine gates, an apron expansion and new parking garage with an elevated walkway.

Hoeven says work is ongoing to secure more than $80 million in federal funding.

“Ah, this is a tremendous project it will expand the airport to nine gates and we’re really pressing to get it into construction by spring of ’24,” said Hoeven.

The project is estimated to cost $155 million.
