Fire damages former bank building in Mantador, North Dakota

MANTADOR, N.D. (KVRR-KFGO) – Fire damaged a former bank building in Mantador, North Dakota, shortly before 4 p.m. Monday.

Fire departments from several communities responded to the fire that appeared to have started in the basement of the brick building on Main Street that was built in the early 20th century.

Firefighters had the fire out within about an hour and had to deal with several hotspots.

The extent of the damage has not been determined. The cause of the fire is under investigation but may have been linked to a wood-burning stove.

Mantador is located about 26 miles southwest of Wahpeton.

The Mantador Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Great Bend and Lidgerwood and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
