Sen. Cramer’s son charged with manslaughter after fatal police chase
MERCER COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) – Tragedy has struck in Mercer County, as a sheriff’s deputy died during a pursuit with Senator Kevin Cramer’s son in an alleged stolen vehicle. Ian Cramer is charged with four felonies in connection to the death including manslaughter.
42-year-old Ian Cramer crashed into a sheriff’s office vehicle which hit Mercer County Deputy Paul Martin at around 5:30 pm on Wednesday. The 18-year veteran deputy was outside preparing to deploy a tire-deflation device when he was hit. Senator Cramer sent out a statement regarding what happened, saying his son suffers from severe paranoia and hallucinations.
Martin was 53-years-old and is survived by his wife and three children. Numerous agencies across the state are pouring out support after tragedy has struck.
North Dakota Highway Patrol says this continues to be an ongoing investigation.
