FARGO, N.D., (KVRR)- A blizzard occurring at the international border may cause problems for the rest of North Dakota and Minnesota.

National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning for multiple counties in north-eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota until 6 pm.

After this event, arctic air is expected to come into the area dropping temperatures and causing very cold wind chills.

Wind chills into the negative 20s are expected to last through the weekend, and people should be prepared if they plan on going out. Austin Perroux, Meteorologist at NWS Grand Forks, said, “So the biggest thing would be to just be prepared. ”

Perroux also said, “Have a way to contact someone at any time, if things get hectic for example. And have all the clothing you need ready to go. Those are the big highlights.”

The strong winds may also cause blowing snow and impact visibility around the region.
