The Chamber Hosts The Annual “State of the Cities”
FARGO, N.D., (KVRR)- Mayors from across the metro got together for the Chamber’s annual State of the Cities presentation at Delta by Marriott in Fargo.
The event included mayors from Fargo, West Fargo, Moorhead, Dilworth, and Horace. The event spotlighted several new projects like the Fargo Sports Complex, Moorhead Community Center and Library, Dilworth Fire Station, and an expansion at Hector International Airport.
Shannon Full, President and CEO of the Chamber, said, “I am very passionate and very excited about the opportunity for our airport here. Aviation and Air Service is one of the most critical economic drivers. It’s critical to many of your companies.”
The theme of this meeting is expansion. Moorhead looks to have a lot of construction for the future including plans to redevelop and expand the downtown area.
Shelly Carlson, the Mayor of Moorhead, said, “We also have our downtown redevelopment as Lisa said, 9 city blocks. Think of that, 9 city blocks that gets to be redeveloped. We are building a downtown in Moorhead.”
Fargo is also getting ready for more growth. Plans are in place for the city to help with the influx of more people in the area. Dr. Tim Mahoney, the Mayor of Fargo, said, “Fargo is preparing for the future. In the next 2 decades we prepared to expect 15 thousand new households in our community. To guide the growth Fargo has prepared a city wide growth plan and gathered input from our residents. This will provide us with the updated direction on where and how we grow in coming decades.”
Fargo is also planning aid for the homeless, and is seeing progress on the F-M Diversion Bridge for permanent flood protection.
