FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Republican father-daughter legislators Shannon Roers Jones and Jim Roers of Fargo announce that they are not running for re-election.

They issued a joint statement saying they made the decision to focus on Roers Construction and Development, a company Jim started in the 1970s, and to spend more time with family.

The Roers represent District 46, which covers an area of Fargo south of I-94 and west to 25th Street South.

Jim Roers was appointed to the state senate in 2012 and then won election to the seat in 2016.

Shannon Roers Jones was also elected in 2016 for a seat in the state house.

Both won re-election in 2020.

Shannon Roers Jones ran for mayor of Fargo in 2022 and came in third.
