M-State introduces new programs for Cannabis

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR)- As the cannabis industry rapidly grows, a local college starts programs to help students get prepared.

M-State is partnering with Green Flower to create multiple programs to teach students about the cannabis business. Green Flower trains cannabis professionals.

The online programs take around 9 weeks to complete and reward a certificate to show expertise. The programs are Cannabis cultivation, retail, and extraction and product development.

Each one will also give skills to help run small businesses. Craig Beytien , Vice President of Strategic Engagement at M-State, said, “If this was simply about the process of extraction and the process of cultivation, that does not necessarily tell you how to run a small business.”

Beytien also said, “So there’s a very strong small business development aspect to these certificates.”

The M-State programs are live now and they are one of just a few colleges in Minnesota to offer them.
