Fergus Falls Man Found Guilty in Shooting Death of St. Paul Woman

ST. PAUL (KVRR/KFGO) — A jury has found a Fergus Falls man guilty in the shooting death of a woman in St. Paul.

The verdict was read Friday after nearly 8 hours of deliberations over two days.

44-year-old Matthew Ecker was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Alexandra Pennig at her apartment in December 2022.

He originally reported that she shot herself in the head.

Ecker will be sentenced on March 29.

Second-degree murder with intent is a felony and has a maximum prison sentence of 40 years.
