LIVE: Whetting Our Appetites
A Binford, North Dakota boy makes his debut on Fox's hit cooking competition.
FARGO — He’s only 11 years old, but he’s already found his life’s passion.
And now, a kid from North Dakota is taking that passion to television, with tonight’s premiere of “Masterchef Junior,” only on Fox.
Alfred Eggermont says it’s the first time on TV for him, but hardly his first time finding his way around a kitchen creating original recipes.
He visited with the KVRR Morning Show ahead of his big prime-time premiere, and brought them a sample of his original chicken parmigiana recipe.
Alfred makes his sauce from scratch and walked the anchors through his process.
His professional dream is to publish a kids’ midwestern cookbook that focuses on pantry and shelf-stable ingredients.
He learned to cook from his mother and grandmother, but soon thereafter branched out his skills by watching cooking shows, including “Masterchef Junior.”
He says other than them, there’s hardly anyone in his hometown of Binford that loves to cook.
Alfred says the audition and production process were a lot of fun, including getting to see the Pacific Ocean and the Hollywood sign, and making friends with the other eleven young cooks on the show.
You can see Alfred and all his new friends, plus host Gordon Ramsey and the other judges, on “Masterchef Junior” tonight at seven central.
