MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Moorhead City Council has unanimously approved additional plans for the Reimagine Romkey Park and Pool Project.

They approved a budget adjustment, architect and engineering services and will advertise for a construction manager.

In addition to a new pool, there will be a splash pad, skate park and a sledding hill that will also be used in the summer as seating for an amphitheater.

The Department of the Interior National Park Service has awarded $5 million to the project.

A groundbreaking will be held in the fall and the new facility is expected to open in 2026.

The current swimming pool was built in 1958 and city leaders say it has exceeded its useful life.
