Postal Service Proposes Raising First-Class Letter Postage By A Nickel To 73 Cents

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KVRR) — The cost to send a letter could be going up, again.

U.S. Postal Service wants to raise the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp to 73 cents from 68 cents.

Metered letters would see a nickel increase to 69 cents.

Domestic postcards will go up three pennies to 56 cents.

There are also increases planned for sending international postcards and letters.

They say the price adjustments are needed for the postal service to achieve financial stability.

The rates have been approved by the governors of the Postal Service.

They will now be reviewed by the Postal Regulatory Commission and if they agree, the new rates will take effect on July 14.
