MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Moorhead is inviting everyone to help them kickoff a transformative project for the city.

A groundbreaking will be held on Wednesday, June 5 for the new Moorhead Community Center and Public Library.

It’ll be held at the former US Bank Building lot across from Moorhead Center Mall.

City leaders say the state-of-the-art community center and 21st century public library will serve as a cultural anchor for a revitalized downtown Moorhead.

The current library building dates back to 1962.

The new complex will include spaces for learning, business, play, and exercise.

“We are delighted that the day is finally here and are so excited to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Moorhead Library and Community Center,” said Megan Krueger, director of the Moorhead Public Library. “The new facility will be a welcome opportunity to offer enhanced services and resources to community members of all ages.”

The project is expected to be completed in 2026.
