LIVE: Fargo-Moorhead Kennel Club All-Breed Conformation Show

FARGO — They’re some of the cutest canines on the continent, and they’re all coming to one place this weekend.

And you can join them and get your pedigree as a person who knows a little something about purebred dogs.

Members of the Fargo-Moorhead Kennel Club, including four of the four-legged variety, stopped by the Morning Show to give us a sneak preview ahead of their 67th annual All Breed Conformation Show.

It brings in dogs and their handlers from all over the country and from Canada competing in all 7 AKC breed groups to try to take Best in Show.

It’s a good way to learn more about the breeds you love, find out about breeds you might not know yet, and best of all, figure out what breed characteristics will work for your family.

For example, if you love winter sports, you can get a short-haired breed like the whippet Macho or the Doberman Tallulah, but they’ll have to wear a coat and can’t be outside for long.

You might be better off with a husky, Malamute, Akita or Chow.

And if you love small animals? Better give cute little Papillon puppy Pickett a pass.

He’s tiny, but was bred to hunt rats so he’s a great way to get rid of rodents and rabbits who break into your garden.

And if you like Australian Shepherds but they’re a little too much dog for you, then Astrid, who’s a mini Australian Shepherd, is the perfect pocket version.

The dogs and their pet parents Lisa Braun and Elizabeth Nelson gave Emily a quick rundown of the breeds, the show, and shared some tips about finding the perfect breed for your family.
