Ponsford, MN Woman Died While Swimming on Long Lost Lake Saturday Afternoon

CLEARWATER CO., Minn. (KVRR) —  A Ponsford, Minnesota woman died while swimming on Long Lost Lake in southern Clearwater County, Minnesota.

The sheriff’s office was called about an unresponsive person in the water on Saturday afternoon.

They learned 70-year-old Cheryl Breitbach and her husband had been on the lake in a pontoon when they decided to take a swim.

The pontoon started to float away and the couple struggled in the water.

The husband looked back for Cheryl and she was facedown floating in the water.

Life saving measures were unsuccessful.

Breitbach’s body was taken to UND for an autopsy.
