Former Sen. Heitkamp hopes voters will make decisions based on policy over personality
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Former North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp is helping the Harris/Walz campaign share their small business initiatives.
Vice President Harris is calling for a slate of new incentives for people to start small businesses, including raising small business tax credits from $5,000 to $50,000.
Heitkamp said that policies like these will benefit rural states like North Dakota, and are a big part of the reason she is supporting the campaign.
She’s also encouraging voters to make their decisions based on policy, not on personality.
“There’s plenty of resources that are non-partisan that voters can look at to make their decisions. So I hope their decisions are not driven by things like ‘I don’t like her voice, or I don’t like his hair.’ I hope they are driven by ‘This will benefit me and my family, and this is an investment in the future,’” Heitkamp said.
Harris’s proposal would also incentivize state and local governments to simplify small business policy, which Heitkamp says will benefit places like the Red River Valley.
