Moorhead Proposes Tax Levy Increase To Boost Wages and Benefits For City Employees

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Moorhead is proposing a tax levy increase of $3.1 million to cover additional budget expenditures including wage and benefits and city equipment.
A big factor is to increase spending on public safety to retain and hire officers.
It would mean a 4.9% tax increase and would amount to $8.74 per month for an average home valued around $235,000.
People can comment on the proposal at the regular city council meetings in October and November.
The final tax levy can be lowered but not increased and it will be adopted on December 9.
