LIVE: Halloween Kickoff Party and Scary Movie Season

FARGO — Movie fans are celebrating scary movie season with events for both adults and kids in the metro, starting with a Halloween Kickoff party this weekend at West Acres Marcus Theatres.

They’re screening favorite Halloween slasher films all month long, as well as kid-friendly offerings like “Hocus Pocus” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

Saturday, the West Acres Theatres is hosting kids’ parties with candy bags, pumpkin painting, games and photo ops, along with showings of “E.T.” and “Despicable Me 4.”

Costumes are optional, but they ask that kids leave the toy weapons and masks at home.

General Manager Tristan Ross says a lot of people find scary movies are better when they’re part of a shared audience viewing experience, including him.

Ross joined the Morning Show for a live interview about Halloween time at the movie theater, the top horror films of all time, and what it is that keeps us coming back for the scares.
