Presentation Planned To Give Overview of Proposed Fargo Convention Center

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A presentation is planned later this month to give an overview of the proposed new convention center in Fargo.
Voters will decide whether to approve a doubling of the city’s lodging tax from 3% to 6% for 25 years to pay for the center.
Last December, a special election to fund Fargodome upgrades and a new convention center failed.
The measure got 52% approval, but 60% approval was needed to pass.
Visit Fargo-Moorhead will host the presentation on October 30 from 5-6 p.m. at Four Points by Sheraton.
“If built, a convention center would attract more and larger gatherings of visitors to the community,” said Charley Johnson, CEO of Visit Fargo-Moorhead. “It has the potential to bring outside dollars to local businesses, helping them invest in employees, local services, and growth. Ultimately, that spending would filter into the whole community and benefit everyone.”
