Advocacy Group Strong Towns Fargo is Working To Recruit New Members

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A local advocacy group, Strong Towns Fargo, is recruiting new members to support safer streets, walkability, and financial development.
The group has been around for a year and branched off from the bigger non-profit group based in Brainerd, Minnesota.
They are currently working on addressing traffic speeds by working with engineers and planners to slow the traffic down.
Arlette Preston said that she and a few others have also collected data on University clocking cars driving up to 58 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour speed limit zone.
“You have to look at how streets are designed and I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I certainly, when I’m driving on the street where there’s lots going on with trees and whatever else, I drive slower. When you have three, four lanes that are in front of you wide open you tend to drive faster,” said Arlette Preston, Volunteer Coordinator for Strong Towns Fargo.
