Council Approves Contract With Jason Freedman As Grand Forks Police Chief

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — Grand Forks City Council has approved Jason Freedman’s employment agreement as the new police chief.
Freedman is scheduled to start on January 27.
He is coming from Madison, Wisconsin where he served as a captain with the police department.
The final five candidates included three internal candidates and two external candidates.
Freedman will have a starting salary of over $161,000 annually.
“Already started communicating with people inside the department and some of my peers and colleagues in the other agencies in the area, everybody’s been great,” Freedman told the council via Zoom.
Freedman replaces Mark Nelson who retired as chief back in September.
