Don’t Let Them Turn into Pupsicles
Minnesota entrepreneur develops cold-weather dog product line
HALLOCK, Minn. — The cold snap we’re heading into isn’t just rough on humans.
It’s also “ruff” on our canine family members.
So one woman from Hallock has developed a product that can help.
“Wet Dog” Chief Business Development Officer Heather Johnson started her company to meet the needs of Minnesota dogs like hers.
She’s got a “paw wax” that she says can be used on a daily basis to protect their tender foot pads from the outdoor elements.
Some dogs can be enticed to wear special dog booties, but plenty of dogs won’t cooperate.
And exposure to ice, snow, rough terrain, and salt can all damage the skin on dogs’ feet.
Then, when the dog licks their feet to clean them, it can further dry, crack, and irritate them.
Johnson says it’s safe for daily use and safe for the dogs to lick.
She joined the Morning Show for a live demonstration with helper dog Ruby and her human companion to talk about how she came up with the Minnesota-based product line.
