Nationwide May Day Protest Brings Over A Hundred People Together in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Over a hundred people came together in solidarity at the Veterans Memorial Bridge to protest on this May Day. Striking with the thousands of others nationwide to demand for a change.

“This May Day, we’re standing together to send a message loud and clear across the country and the globe. We’re united in our resolve to fight for a better future for all workers. Our solidarity is our strength. Our collective voices are power. When working people stand together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish,” said Laura Haugen Christensen, Representative of the Northern Plains United Labor Council.

The protest comes at a time of the approximately 20,000 workers laid off from UPS and the possible dismantling of the United States Postal Service.

“From the flagrant disregard for constitutional authority and governmental checks and balances, to defying Supreme Court orders, to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia back home, one thing is abundantly clear. Our country is in a constitutional crisis,” said Ashley Ladbury Hrichena, Board Member and Volunteer for the League of Women Voters of Red River Valley.

Among the speakers, former Judge Thomas A. Davies also spoke with the crowd to call on North Dakota representatives to listen to their people.

“Trump gets away with what he does because citizens like us let him. And elected officials in North Dakota either support his causes or endorse them by their silence. It’s past due for the American Citizens League to do what too many elected leaders refuse to do. Call them on their dirty deeds, support candidates that represent we the people, not that bloviated blub of flesh known as Donald J. Trump,” said Former Judge Thomas A. Davies.

As the strike came to a close, many walked away united together to showcase their message of their solidarity.
