Moorhead Man Gets 15 Years In Prison For Deadly Shooting Last Summer

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — The Moorhead man who changed his plea to guilty to murder in the 2nd degree without intent was sentenced on Wednesday to 15 years in prison.
36-year-old Jamal Ahmed shot and killed 37-year-old Franky Torres last July.
Court records show Ahmed was identified as the suspect who shot Torres in the head while Torres was fighting with another man over an alleged sexual assault in a Moorhead parking lot near Romkey Park.
Ahmed was picked out of a six-person lineup even though he tried to change his appearance by cutting his hair and dreadlocks.
A plea deal was reached back in March.
