Fire at Compost Site Contained by Moorhead and Dilworth Fire Departments

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — A fire broke out around 3:30 on a very windy Sunday afternoon at Moorhead’s compost site near Highway 75 and 15th avenue North.

Crews arrived to find multiple compost piles on fire.

Moorhead Fire was assisted by Dilworth Fire and they were able to confine the fire within the compost site.

City personnel will remain on-site to monitor the area until the fire is fully extinguished and deemed safe.
A burn ban is currently in effect in the region due to dry conditions and very strong winds.
