LIVE: FAFSA College Aid Deadline Approaches

FARGO — We are in the final countdown to the deadline to submit your application for federal student aid, or FAFSA.

And after last year’s major changes to the process made for a major mess for applicants, this time around, it’s very different.

College aid advisors say this year looks like it’ll be a much smoother process.

There are only thirty-six questions on the form now, instead of the one-hundred plus you had to answer previously.

That makes it easier, but you should still practice the form before you submit your final version.

Advisors also suggest you fill out the form even if you think your family’s income is too high to qualify.

That way you can be sure you’re not leaving available aid money on the table.

You have until midnight June 30th to apply.

CollegeSmart’s Ryan Keel joined the Morning Show to share his professional tips on how to prepare for filling out the FAFSA, which family members to involve, and why you don’t want to be last in line to ask for financial aid for college.
