Fundraiser started for Lisbon, ND couple seriously injured while on vacation in Alaska

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A Lisbon, North Dakota couple on vacation in Alaska sustained serious injuries in a head on crash on July 25.

Caringbridge and GoFundMe posts for Ty and Katelyn Michels say both are in hospitals in two different states.

Ty Michels is in Anchorage, Alaska awaiting surgery on both his ankle and jaw.

Katelyn Michels is in the ICU in Seattle where she has undergone multiple surgeries with more to come.

She will need additional surgery to repair damage to her abdomen.

Social media accounts say the couple is employed by Bobcat in Gwinner, North Dakota.

Katelyn also has a photography business.

The couple has two young boys.

Family members say the cost of their medical care will be significant.
