Fargo City Commissioner Michelle Turnberg upset with delayed notification after Sunday morning shootings
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Sunday morning’s shootings had many questioning why there was a delayed notice about the incidents.
A release in the early afternoon stated the 50-block of Broadway was blocked off for ongoing investigations.
Approximately fifteen hours after the two shootings that killed two people, a suspect was named for one of them.
Commissioner Michelle Turnberg said she was surprised by the lack of alerts and the not knowing of how safe the downtown area was.
“I would have liked to have had better alerts about what was going on. I think people were left unaware. ‘Who should I be looking for? They have a suspect?’ There was a lot of people around when the shooting happened. So, I think, we need a little bit more clarity and a bit more attention to letting residents know what’s going on,” said Turnberg.
Turnberg says she hopes that with the new city budget, they will be able to hire more officers for the department.
