Hatton Woman Seriously Injured After Crashing into Semi-Truck

Authorities say the woman was not wearing her seatbelt.

GRAND FORKS COUNTY, N.D. (KVRR) – A woman from Hatton is currently in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks after crashing her Nissan Juke into a semi-truck.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says that at just before 8 A.M. on August 15, the Nissan Juke was traveling
eastbound on ND Highway 15 near mile marker 122. The Nissan driver was following an eastbound Peterbilt semi that was turning right onto County Road 13 (22nd Street NE).

The driver of the Nissan attempted to avoid the turning semi by steering to the right. The Nissan left the roadway, overcorrected to the left, and struck the trailer of the Peterbilt.

The 50-year-old woman was taken to Altru with serious injuries. She was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash and has additionally been cited for failing to maintain lane and failing to maintain control.

The 71-year-old Peterbilt driver, also from Hatton, was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation by the NDHP.
