Fargo City Commission approves removal of dangerous building

1202 1st Ave S Dangerous Building 1

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – The City Commission approved the removal of a dangerous apartment building in south Fargo.

Inspections Director Shawn Ouradnik says the designation was made after a July 7 fire that did significant damage to a basement apartment unit and smoke damage throughout the two story apartment. He says there are a number of other issues with the 5-unit building, including damage from a SWAT raid in June.

Ouradnik says there have been 17 calls for service in 2025 and squatters have been a problem.

The building meets 8 of 10 dangerous building criteria. If the owners of the building do not remove it, the city will in October.
