MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Minnesota State Moorhead is celebrating the school’s largest gift in history from the Nibbe (nib-ee) Family Foundation.

The $5.5 million gift establishes the Nibbe School of Teaching and Learning, scholarships, study abroad opportunities, and more.

The family has had three generations of family members who went to Moorhead and several became educators.

They hope that their gift will help recruit and retain teachers for years to come.

“Teaching is such an important career, no other career can happen without teaching. And so for us to give money to the MSU programs, so that they can enhance and make better teachers, that’s what it’s all about. That’s really why our gift is here,” said Dawn Guse, President of Nibbe Family Foundation.

The building is currently up and running with plans to advocate for students to join the program in the coming days.
