Suspect wanted after crash in stolen vehicle is arrested on Spirit Lake Reservation

FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (KVRR) — The suspect wanted after a single-vehicle crash in a stolen vehicle near St. Michael on Thursday night is arrested.

The investigation identified two males involved and one cooperated with authorities.

The second male, Winfield Chaske III, was located after an extensive search by multiple agencies including North Dakota Highway Patrol and Benson County Sheriff’s Office and arrested around 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Lake Region Drone Team and Lake Region Law Enforcement Center were also involved in the investigation and search.

BIA and Fort Totten Police say all evidence related to the case has been collected and there is no active threat to the community.
