Pepper balls fired at barricaded man with flare gun in downtown Fargo business Tuesday night

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A man who barricaded himself in a bathroom stall of a downtown Fargo business with a flare gun last night is now jailed.
Police didn’t name the business they responded to in the 100 block of North Broadway around 10 p.m.
They say 35-year-old Samuel Platt, who has no permanent address, pointed the flare gun at one of the officers, causing them to retreat.
The officers eventually fired pepper balls at Platt and another less-lethal impact projectile before taking him into custody.
He was checked out at a hospital before being booked into Cass County Jail.
Platt is being held for terrorizing, preventing arrest, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.
Officers seized the flare gun and additional flares that were in Platt’s possession.
