Man arrested following stabbing and SWAT standoff

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR: UPDATE) –One man is jailed while another man suffered a non life-threatening stab wound after an incident this morning near NDSU.

55-year-old Michael Conover of Fargo was arrested after a standoff with SWAT that started after 6 a.m. in the 1600 block of Dakota Drive North.

Police had responded to a report of a stabbing inside an apartment.

The victim was found outside and declined medical treatment at the scene.

Conover barricaded himself inside the apartment for nearly three hours.

A chemical irritant was used to get him to come out.

Conover was arrested for aggravated domestic assault and preventing arrest.

FARGO (KVRR) – Fargo police and the Red River Valley SWAT Team have responded to an area south of the North Dakota State University campus.

City officials are advising people to avoid the area near Dakota Drive and 16th St. North.

Around a dozen Fargo police officers and SWAT members are at the scene. Officers were using loud speakers to speak with someone inside an apartment building.

The initial call came in as a medical emergency around 6:15 a.m. Monday.
