FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KVRR-KFGO) – The Minnesota State Patrol responded to several jackknifed semis on Interstate-94 Wednesday morning.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow says troopers were dealing with jackknifed semis between Moorhead and Fergus Falls at mileposts 18, 44, 49 and 57, along with other crashes.

“There’s spots out here where I am right now where it’s like a skating rink and traffic is starting to move as people are picking up making their way to and from work, and probably some of that holiday travel, so anticipate with more traffic there could be some more issues. But it doesn’t have to be that way if people just take their time,” Grabow said.

One of those jackknifed semis is blocking both lanes of I-94 five miles west of Fergus Falls. The Minnesota DOT estimates lanes could be blocked for over an hour as crews work to clean up the scene.

Grabow reminds people to plan extra travel time if you’re hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday.

“Just take your time, allow more time for travel, increase your following distance because you yourself might be a very good, very safe smart driver. But you do share the roadways with other people that maybe don’t have that skill or are just driving too fast. If they spin out causing a hazard, are you going to be able to avoid them for the situation they just put you in? So slow it down, take your time and get there safely,” Grabow said.
