Minnesota DOT invites the public to Name a Snowplow

MINNESOTA (KVRR) — The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to come up with new names for eight more snowplows.
The “Name a Snowplow contest” is marking its sixth year in the state.
Since it began, the department has received thousands of names from across the nation.
Last year’s winners included fun names like “We’re Off To See The Blizzard” and “Plowabunga!”
Submissions must be no more than thirty characters, and one name only.
Past winners will not be considered for the submissions.
“I hear from our drivers that they get a lot of thumbs up, people are honking. We actually bring a named snow plow to the state fair, the Minnesota State Fair, every year,” said Anne Meyer, Minnesota Department of Transportation. “We see it as a great win, and internally, I think the more that we can do to keep our snow plow operators safe, the better it is for everybody out there. Not only our drivers, but everyone else who is utilizing our roadways.”
Submissions for the snowplow contest are being accepted until noon on December 19 on MnDOT’s website.
