Third ‘No Kings’ Protest in Fargo Takes Place on Churchill Field at NDSU

Organizers moved to the new location after holding the first two installments at City Hall because they were worried that recent precipitation would make the sloping lawn a hazard for attendees.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Previous No Kings rallies at Fargo’s City Hall have been well attended – but it seemed like the NDSU installment had the largest number of people yet.

Those who showed up had a variety of reasons for doing so.

“I really don’t want this war to go on,” said Eileen Black, regarding the conflict with Iran.

“I am extremely concerned about my loss of freedom of speech and threats to my voting rights,” said Shane Martin.

They were all united, though, in the feeling that a drastic change is needed.

“North Fargo should be filled with North Dakotans who are sick of what’s happening and scared about what might happen unless we take back our government,” said Martin.

The official event program began at 1 and ran until 3, but the enthusiasm stretched well beyond that timeframe, as attendees pushed back on not just the actions of the Trump administration, but also the idea that “No Kings” demonstrations were not needed.

There was also a glimmer of hope – in that, while people wished they didn’t have to protest, they were glad that so many showed up to lend their support.

“I love it. I love that there’s old people, that there’s young people, every generation – I have three generations here,” said Black.

No Kings organizers have officially estimated that over 8 million people turned up for protests across the country.
