Earth week is here, with clean ups taking place across the Fargo-Moorhead area

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Dozens of cleanups are taking place throughout the week in the metro to celebrate Earth Week.
River Keepers, a local non-profit, has partnered with Moorhead, Fargo, and local park districts to provide garbage bags and pickers for volunteers to use.
Many local businesses, from Scheels to Wells Fargo, have signed up to clean alongside the Red River.
The cleanup efforts are one of the biggest efforts after the snow melts.
Most of the garbage they have found in recent years includes food and beverage containers and plastic bags.
“We see a really big impact on clean-up week when the weather works in our favor for Earth Week to pick up as much trash as possible. It’s just a great time of year because the vegetation hasn’t grown in yet, so we can get into these harder-to-reach places and pick up as much trash as we can,” said Kim Radebaugh, Project Coordinator for River Keepers.
Sign-ups are still open to participate in the cleanup throughout the week.
