Mother of Nine-Eleven Victim Visits Walhalla
The mother of the sole North Dakota woman killed during the 9-11 attacks helps keep her daughters legacy alive with her “Daughter of Dakota” events.
Jenette Nelson holds it in a different town each year and this year she picked Walhalla.
Her daughter, Ann Nicole Nelson of Stanley, was working for Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center when it was attacked.
Jenette read part of her book “The Story of Annie” to Walhalla’s third, fourth and fifth graders.
They also painted a “Star of Hope” which are sent to communities affected by disasters.
The only North Dakota male killed in the attacks was James Halvorson, a 1963 graduate of Devils Lake High School.
