Fargo City Council Working to Cut Back City Hall Price Tag

Fargo city leaders are still working with an architect to scale back costs for building a new city hall.

Initial estimates of between $10 and $14 million ballooned to over $30 million this spring.

Mayor Mahoney says they’ve made progress and have trimmed the estimated cost to $26 million.

He says it’s possible bids could go out before the end of the year with work to start next year.

Consultants say renovating the 56 year old civic center could cost $55 million or $52 million to build new.

Mayor Mayoney says a final decision will be what he called an “evolving” discussion.
