Former U of M Student Charged After Leaving Explosives on Campus

Prosecutors say a former U of M student left a bag containing gasoline-soaked towels and smoke flares on the Minneapolis campus.

35-year-old Jason Johnson is charged with making terroristic threats and possessing explosives.

The complaint says he admitted leaving the bag inside Coffman Memorial Union on Sunday.

Police say the bag held 14 smoke flares with fuses inserted in them, wrapped in towels.

The materials could have caused a huge fire.

The complaint says Johnson made suicidal comments to police.
