State Officials Say Check For Radon
North Dakota health officials are reminding residents to test their homes for radon.
It’s the leading cause for lung cancer for non-smokers and it’s found throughout the soil in North Dakota. Health officials say months with cold weather are a good time to test homes for radon.
Sixty-three percent of North Dakota homes have an elevated level. More than 21,000 people die every year in the U.S. due to radon-related illnesses.
The state is providing testing kits.
