Sprinkler Assists in Parking Garage Fire

A Fargo parking garage is saved by a sprinkler system after a car fire.

Around 2 o’clock Thursday morning, 20 Fargo firefighters responded to a fire alarm at an apartment building.

Authorities found a car on fire in a large garage attached to the building.

A sprinkler system limited the fire damage to just one vehicle and allowed crews to put the fire out in 15 minutes.

This is the fourth time this year that sprinklers have played an integral part in limiting fire damage in Fargo.

Doug Nelson, Fargo Fire Inspector, says, “We recommend sprinkler installation. they slow the spread of fires and often times can contain them so that fire fighters can get there to put them out before they do more damage and can really save a lot of the damage from a fire.”

The exact cause of the fire has not been identified.

Damage to the vehicle and garage roof is estimated at $40,000.
