Why the long face? The pony might not know, but it’s giving Hearts Day and everyone is excited to raise money for 287 non–profit organizations.
The Dakota Medical Foundation and a number of other generous donors match all donations made today only.
Dakota Medical Foundation’s Pat Traynor said, “If you join all of these non–profits for one day, that collective voice is like no other in the terms of awareness generated for the good that they’re doing all throughout the whole year.”
Nate Aalgaard helped design the Dakota Medical Foundation to make it handicap accessible.
He also works for the Freedom Resource Center that serves people with any disability at any age.
Aalgaard said, “I know what it’s like to feel dependant and closed in and excluded and I want everyone to have the same kind of chance as I do to be out in the community good job own my own home that’s what it’s all about.”
Freedom employees have emailed and called thousands of people to ask for contributions.
Some groups go the traditional route, but other jump into it and have a little fun along the way.
TNT Kid’s Fitness and Gymnastics held a Trampoline–A–Thon. It’s helping bring in donations from across the country.
Trisha McDonald from TNT Kid’s Fitness and Gymnastics said, “People get to actively participate with the clients and children and adults that we serve so it really brings a lot of meaning into their hearts and we’re going to have 1000 people jump today.”
The organizations have gone through training throughout the year to prepare for this day, and are ready to use your gifts to improve lives.
